Hard to figure out why it is so slow

The specs look good so we are finding it hard to understand why this unit runs so slow. Start up takes much too long, we do not have a lot`of open windows or apps running. RAM should rock, we do understand the processor is a bit outdated, but the 6 year old HP this one is replacing fires up faster, cruises the net faster. Considering returning this unit but customer service told read the fine print of the offer when we bought it.

Save your money

EXTREMELY SLOW and will die quickly. This was the worst computer I ever bought. I only had it for just under 4 months and has already died. The hard drive crashed, losing all my work, photos, and files, making me lose jobs. Unfortunately I was using this computer out of the country as a work computer. What a mistake. DO NOT BUY!

Save your money

EXTREMELY slow and will not live very long. Probably the worst computer I ever bought. Not even 4 months of owning it, the hard drive crashed, losing all my WORK, files and pictures, and causing me to lose jobs and money. Unfortunately I am out of the country, so returning it to Best Buy is not an option, but soon as I return, I am bringing it in. Pure garbage!!!

Good Value

This a nice laptop for the price. Does exactly what I expected for it, hasn't had any problems, and is far more reliable than my old machine. Runs quiet and handles programs quickly. Very nice for a mid-range laptop.

Average Entry-Level Laptop

For a large display entry-level laptop this is a decent machine. Its casing and feel do not inspire confidence with a flimsy plastic fit and finish. Performance is adequate if not a little on the slow side. Stripping the default configuration of the bloatware that came preinstalled helped lighten its base processing requirements. Has a very nice large display.

Really disappointing!!!

Okay so I accidentally reviewed the wrong product, so this is to correct that mistake. Basically I am very disappointed with this laptop. The 8GB of RAM, 1 TB hard drive and DVD drive were compelling factors that motivated me to purchase this when it was on sale. I felt like I got a great deal. Then it took so long to set up, I had to use a Microsoft login to get into the computer, and the 5th time I turned it on, I had to wait an hour while it went through that Windows 10 updating before I could even get into it. It also seems (at least to me) to run slower than the 2GB Acer I had previously, the DVD drive and even the frame of the laptop itself seem to be very frail. I am really disappointed with this as I really wanted to love this computer, and yet here I find myself now planning to return it. It really isn't giving me anything that I wanted.

Bought & returned the same day!!!

Why?? Well apart from the Bloatware I was expecting I got packaged with this supposedly new laptop a Zeus virus popup!!! This is the first time ever I experienced buying a laptop with a nasty virus already included. It does not deserve a Star, it is a ZERO STAR unfortunately I don't have this option.

Very fast, efficient laptop

I bought this about a year ago, it has far execceded my expectations and it is still working as well as when I first got it. It is very fast and great for pretty much anything, execpt gaming. All in all 10/10.

There's no problem with the device so far.

good value for the money

bought this on sale and it has proved to be good value for the money. A laptop intended for basic use at a fair price, this model delivers just that.

Not bad.... 5 years ago.

Not a bad laptop. The keybinding to use the INSert key is a pain if you use keyboard shortcuts to shift insert into forms as the keybinding to insert requires you to hold down the shift key. Also the WiFi doesn't support 5G which makes for much slower internet browsing and downloading.

Very Buggy

I bought my original laptop in 2010 after I finished university and it was HP and worked amazingly until 2015 when I got a virus that destroyed how it worked. So I went to Best Buy and got another HP since I had pretty much only had HP desktops growing up. This laptop I got is horrible. It doesn't stay connected to the internet, it constantly freezes up on webpages, and if I don't use it for a week or so it wont connect back to the internet. I was calling Windows support for the first year but after the year you need to pay for it. Plus it made me upgrade to Windows 10 which is terrible and now I can't go back to Windows 7 or 8. This computer has good storage and memory, but I don't think I'd purchase an HP because it just is giving me more problems. I'd probably try a Sony or Acer.
