TV? What TV?

I bought this TV on sunday, installed it sunday night at 8:30pm (20:30). I came back from work at 5:15pm the next day and started playing playstation on it. On my second game, the TV faded to dark in front of my eyes and never turned back on again so it hasn't even worked for 24 hours.

NEW TV!!! Doesn't work the next day

So I bought this TV yesterday. At first, I was really happy about the idea of watching movies and gaming on it but.. well, simply, it just died on me. At first, we put the TV on and saw lights flickering (White lines) on it so I looked up online and found that it might be the HDMI that's having a bad connection so I played with it and the lines were gone. Fine, I can move on. But eh, I started playing on my PS4 and after a little while (30 minutes), the screen died. it just died. The screen flickered dark, the image faded away and now I don't have any power light, I tried unplugging then plugging the power back but nothing. It's dead. It lasted less than 24 hours. I looked up online and many people have issues with samsung TV, no wonder their phone explodes.; DO NOT BUY THIS TV.

So far.....after 6 weeks

The "smart remote" that comes with this TV has a shiny surface that makes opening it, a real ordeal. This model does not come with blue tooth. The auto motion is set to factory "on". You will need to turn it off for "each picture mode " Although this a lower end Samsung TV, it's still a Samsung. The 4K Picture is very nice. Sound is fine. The TV is also light, weight. The TV picked up the wifi signal with no problems. Streaming is a breeze. If your looking for a movie type experience, I would suggest sets that are 55" and up. Good Luck !

terrible quality.. dont buy it!!

Bought this TV in Nov 2016. 7 month later a red vertical line appears on the screen. Searched on google, apparently this is a very common quality issue for Samsung LED TV. Before i had two LG never had any issues. I will never buy a TV from Samsung.

Good picture / Dumb TV

First, to be fair, the "TV" part is good. Good picture, good size, good colors. If you just want to watch a channel, it should do. If you want more from your TV, the interface and the Tizen platform are a tremendous disappointment. The most annoying thing is the ads in the main menu that start appearing after a couple of months. It's not an ad-supported service, I've paid a lot for thing, so why am I seeing ads? I'm not sure why this is called a "Smart" TV. It's not. My old dumb TV from 10 years ago is far more intuitive to use. This is a just a TV with streaming capability. Unlike "smart" phones where you can multi-task almost like an actual computer, this is more like an old dumb phone where you do one thing at a time. For example if you open the weather app, live TV stops. You can't easily switch between a streaming video and TV, if you want to switch back from TV, you'll have to browse though all the folders and replay the video again. And other than the well know streaming apps, there are no interesting apps whatsoever. Such a terrible waste of a great quad-core processor. (For a better smart TV experience, try android TVs). Then you have plenty of features that are disabled just for Canada and the US, like live recording+pausing, PIP, etc.. And of course the remote is awful. They stripped out all the buttons and shortcuts to make it look like an Apple thingy, if you want to get something done (e.g. set sleep timer), you'll have to do endless dancing on 4 buttons (left, left, up, right, etc..).. but for some reason they added a Twitter highlights button, go figure.

Warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on

Had my TV 6 months and turned it on one day. After 5 or so minutes there was a pop and lines going up the left side and along the bottom of the screen there is also a dark x which makes it look like there was impact. There was no impact, I sent them pictures showing no damage to the glass. They insist there was physical damage to it and will not cover under warranty. They have no value for their customers.

OK TV

Bought this on boxing day for 799, three weeks later the picture tube went and had to bring it back. Not a true 4K TV, picture is still great but I would pat more and get a 7 Series. FYI -ONLY ONE HDMI PORT IS 2.0, rest are 1.4

Only HDMI 1 can display 4K

This box has 3 HDMI ports only #1 supports 4K with HDCP2.2. Try Roku box on port 2 and 3 it can not display 4K. Bestbuy listed Spec. HDMI Version 2.0a (Is this correct Buybuy ?) Samsung tech told me Port 2 and 3 are version 1.4. If it is 2.0a then most of HD devices will require HDCP2.2. So if you are trying to connect your HD devices other than HDMI1 then you will have issue based your devices. You will not know untill you connect

Do your research!

This TV is NOT a real HDR TV. The colour gamut is limited to be able to display full HDR. Watching movies with blu-ray or 4kblu-ray causes judder and there is no feature to adjust it. If you want a real HDR TV that can play bluray or 4k bluray, get the samsung KS8000 or KS9000. Better yet, go look at this tv next to the models i mentioned and decide for yourself.

Great tv

Got this one for the holidays. A great tv. Other reviews complain of the apps etc but if you want to watch tv for tv you can't go wrong. Incredible picture and sound.4k adds to the amazing picture. The remote is scaled down but with cable boxes and such you don't really use it anyways. I don't use the apps since I have a computer and smartphone but if you want a great "tv" I would highly recommend this one.

Video and Audio Connectivity

There was a previous post indicating the sound cannot be sent out via an A/V receiver when using the built-in apps. This can actually be solved simply by using a digital optical audio cable (not to be confused with the digital coaxial cable). Use this cable to connect the TV's digital audio out port to a digital audio in port on a receiver. Also, change the audio setting on the TV to use optical instead of TV speakers. In my case, I have an older receiver that cannot output 4K. So, I connected the Xbox One S directly to the TV's HDMI port and then I connected the TV's digital audio out to my Pioneer receiver's digital audio in port. The Xbox is passing both video and audio to the TV and in turn, the TV is passing audio to the receiver. This way, I get 4K display output from the Xbox to the TV, and, I get audio for both sources - Xbox and built-in apps from TV - out through the A/V receiver and connected speakers. I can also control turning on/off the Xbox, TV, and receiver using the configuration described above.

Not so good

I understand you get what you paid for, and this is not an expensive TV, but for what you get, it's not great. The motion rate sucks, still images look good but whenever there are moving objects, such as sports, it start showing weird effects, almost like the TV can not keep up with the FPS or something. Build quality isn't that good, the connecting part between tv and the tv stand are one piece of cheap plastic, if you just lightly touch one end of the TV,it will wobble for 1-2 mins. I get that a lot of people hang there TV on the wall nowadays, but this is just not cool. last the so called smart remote, just sucks, with no number buttons, switching channels and typing are super slow.

Beautiful Picture Quality

We purchased this TV to replace an LG that was about 7 years old. The picture quality difference is incredible! This Samsung is great for over-the-air HD TV signals and the smart features are an added bonus. Very happy with this purchase.

Faulty in 5 weeks

I bought this TV at BestBuy, and in just 5 weeks (!!!) a white line appeared across the screen, no matter what I'm watching. A translucid band also appeared, I got totally disappointed. I also bought a Sony one at the same purchase, and there's no comparison. The Samsung TV is phisically more fragile, it seems it will fall easily on the stand, if you have kids it can be really dangerous.

Great value

Bought to use as a computer monitor as well as to watch movies. Amazing at upscaling 720p/1080p content, great image quality, sleek look - all at an affordable price! Remote is simple enough to use. Only downside would be the reflections off the screen. This TV is best placed in a dark room with minimal light. No issues with viewing angle as of yet since I don't normally sit off to the side anyways. I also don't watch anything with significant amount of motion to notice blur. If you intend to use as computer monitor and also watch lots of movies, I highly recommend this unit!!(Debated between the Sony XBR X700D but this won out)

Great TV

On-screen setup was fast and simple (although I bypassed the WIFI setup). Remote is easy to use due to fewer but smarter buttons. Picture quality is phenomenal: crystal clear and bright. Appreciate the auto-dimming feature for viewing in a darkened room without being blinded. Sound quality is excellent. Recommend this TV for value, features, and picture & sound quality.

Smart TV by name only

First, to be fair, the "TV" part is really good. Good picture, good size, good colors, equals Sony quality. If you just want to watch one channel, it should do. If you want more from your TV, the interface and the Tizen platform are a tremendous disappointment. I'm not sure why this is called a "Smart TV". It's far from it. My old dumb TV from 10 years ago is far more intuitive to use. I'd probably call it a 2-in-1 Tv+Cast-stick combo, nothing smart about it. Unlike "smart" phones where you can almost multi-task like an actual computer, this is more like an old dumb phone where you do one thing at a time. The apps don't interact with each other, and you have to quit one in order to open another. Such a terrible waste of a great quad-core processor. For example if you open the weather app, live TV stops. You can't easily switch between a DLNA video and TV, if you want to switch back from TV, you'll have to browse though all the folders again to replay the video. The web browser is totally unusable without a mouse or a keyboard, looks bad, and keeps forgetting your settings. Then you have plenty of missing features, like manual channel tuning, 2 ports for antenna+cable, PiP, live recording+pause, etc.. If you look in the manual, there are a whole bunch of stuff that they say are not available for US and Canada. And of course the remote is awful. They stripped out all the buttons and shortcuts to make it look like an Apple thingy, if you want to get somewhere, you'll have to do endless navigation.. but for some reason they added a Twitter highlights button, go figure. If you want an advanced smart TV I'd recommend an Android TV. Now let's see if I can return it.

Bad Connectivity to Receivers

I followed all instructions on connecting my audio/visual receiver. I found that none of the apps like Netflix, uTube etc. would not play sound through the receiver. Only the cable box setting worked through it. An online check (after a couple of days talking to Samsung) found many complaints regarding this without any clear solutions. I'm suprised that the "techs" at Samsung were not aware of this as the complaints go back to last year , causing me to waste all that time with them. No resolution to the issue yet. Everything else worked great but more than a little diappointing for the price paid

AMAZING Must buy.

I purchased an LG unit and had to return it. I have had a 4K since release and it was a downgrade. If you have already had the tec and are upgrading to HDR this unit is perfect. I am a major gamer and have the X-1S- this unit perfectly compliments the TV. The price could be lower and the controller a bit more keep to wand use - that is the only reason it didn't get 5 stars.
